2025 Graduation Student Speakers Announced

Wellsville Secondary School is proud to announce the student speakers for the Class of 2025 graduation ceremony. This year's speakers are Maddie Muurisepp and Keenen O'Connor. These students were selected through a comprehensive application and interview process involving students, teachers, counselors, and administrators. Their selection reflects their academic achievements and leadership qualities.

This marks the first graduating class under Wellsville Secondary's Latin Honors system, which was implemented to recognize a broader range of academic excellence. We began the process of transitioning to the Latin Honors system during the 2019–2020 school year. The Latin Honors System recognizes graduates with distinctions of Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude based on cumulative GPA.

Latin Honors Distinctions:

  • Cum Laude: Meaning "with praise," this honor is awarded to students who have demonstrated commendable academic performance by achieving a GPA between 88% and 91.99%.
  • Magna Cum Laude: Meaning "with great praise," this distinction recognizes students who have achieved a GPA between 92% and 95.99%.
  • Summa Cum Laude: Meaning "with highest praise," this is the most prestigious honor, awarded to students who have achieved a GPA of 96% and above.

In addition to Maddie and Keenen, the Senior class President, Averee Palmatier, will deliver an address at the commencement ceremony. The graduation will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 7:00 PM on the Wellsville Secondary School front lawn (rain location – High School Gymnasium). We look forward to celebrating the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2025.

Wellsville Secondary School Presents:

Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution

A group of young people dressed in period costumes stand on a stage, smiling for a photo.

Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution is a tense courtroom drama/murder mystery involving a young man named Leonard Vole (played by senior Keenen O'Connor) who has been accused of murdering a rich maiden lady, Emily French. He is defended in court by Lady Wilfrid Robarts (played by senior Maddie Muurisepp) and is antagonized by the prosecuting attorney Alexandra Myers (played by junior Kennedy Ewing). The courtroom is turned on its head when Romaine Vole (Leonard's wife, played by senior Maddison Baker) is called to testify against her husband and claims that Leonard did indeed kill Miss Emily French. Is Leonard guilty? A trademark twist by Agatha Christie will leave the audience guessing until the very end.

The show is set to hit the stage in the Wellsville High School Auditorium on Thursday, November 21st and Saturday, November 23rd at 7pm, and on Sunday, November 24th at 2pm.  Tickets can be purchased at the door.  General admission is $10 and students and senior citizens pay $5.  The cast and crew hope you will make a plan to come see their exciting show.
